2002-2003 THEME
"Every Child Counts
In The California South District"
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
My husband, Chuck, has been a member of
the Kensington Optimist Club since 1977, so I was familiar with its activities.
I retired from teaching in the San Diego City Schools in 1991 and continued to
work part time for the next eight years as resource teacher for the teen
parenting program.
I began attending club meetings occasionally with Chuck and joined in December
of 1993. I was soon involved with various projects. When I became an officer and
attended Board meetings I gained insight into how the club worked. By attending
quarterly meetings I became acquainted with the district work and met members of
other clubs. Chuck and I went to our first International Convention in Las Vegas
and I was impressed with the wide variety of workshops, instruction, exhibits
and sales, business, and entertainment. This is truly a wonderful organization!
My husband, Chuck, and I have three sons and a daughter all in their 40's. We
have three grandchildren, 20, 18, and 14 who live nearby and we get together
often. We like to travel and have taken numerous trips overseas as well as
around the U.S. I enjoy reading, church work, playing bridge, and using the
computer. We have lived in a condo in downtown San Diego since 1983 and enjoy it
very much.
