Baby, it’s cold (& wet) outside.  (or so the song goes).  First, I want to wish all of you a Cool Yule
and a Frantic First.  For you non-hipsters, that’s Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. 
Our year of T.E.A.M work is going well.  As of the 10^th of December, our District is #2
 in the Pacific Coast region (out of 6 districts) and #4 in overall percentage growth In the nation.
 We’ve added 28 new members, including FOO’s, since 10/1/11. Thank you all for your efforts
 and teamwork.  

Speaking of which we NOW have a NOW (New Optimists Welcome) program, scheduled for 
Jan. 7^th, 2012 at Merrill Gardens in downtown San Diego. It goes  from 4 – 7 P.M.
 Wine & appetizers will be served and this is being coordinated by Dr. Lucille LeMieux 
with “Skip” Binda acting as M.C./Inspiration for the event.  Let’s see how many prospective
 members we can invite to this program. 

Want to remind you of the on-going CALSO CUP contest which finishes at the District Annual
Convention on 9/14 – 9/16 in Borrego Springs.  The Club with the most points 
(See your Lt. Governor for details), and who attends the convention, will receive the treasured
 CALSO CUP as well as a check for $500!  WOW! YIKES! Oh well. 

Don’t forget about Miracle League.  They need team sponsors ($750 per team) and volunteers
 for Optimist Volunteer day.  Those of you who had a chance to view the presentation for this 
organization couldn’t help but be touched by these “special” kids playing baseball each Saturday.

Our next District Executive meeting will be on Saturday, 1/21/12 at Calvary Lutheran Church, 
424 Via de la Valle, Solana Beach 92075. The meeting starts at 10:30 A.M. and lunch will be 
served around noon.  An agenda will be forth-coming the first of January, 2012.

Our next District Quarterly Board of Director’s meeting will be on Saturday, 2/4/12 at the VFW
 hall in Lakeside, 12650 Lindo Lane 92040 from 9 A.M. to 4 P.M.  This Quarterly is being hosted 
by the lakeside club and a Fish-fry will be served for lunch (cost is $20 per).  We will have another
 special presentation at the event as well as some very special guests. 

Thanks for all you do for the kids and the District.  TEAMWORK!
