Dear Friends and Optimists:
Our District is ALIVE
and vibrant!! WOW!!!
(interpretation… we Optimists win!!!)
As
we enter the crossroads to the 3rd Quarterly Conference, we must stay
alive with
each joy-filled moment of success and laughter. If you do not know or care where you
are going, then every road will
take you there. However, our
destiny is to grow. So
we must choose the road to growth, meaning that we focus our
energy, effort and
commitment to foster relationships, and increase our membership.
We must honor
each other’s effort, laugh together and celebrate every step to success.
Plato reminded us that
“what is honored will be cultivated”. Not
what is spoken,
believed, or taught…what is honored. Do
we honor the time we take to read a good
book, to walk in the park, to sing, to dance,
to really look at a sunset, to enjoy laughter
in the presence of friends, to
spread our optimism in recruiting new members?
Do we
honor our Club members’ time?
What if we were to live, even for a few hours without
spending any money, simply cultivating our time, our Club,
and our youth as our most
precious resource? Would that change our road to growth?
Together we will soar!

DISTRICT GOALS

These may be revised depending on changes in the
economic/business conditions
at Optimist International or within our District. I've shared these goals
with Lt.
Governors, Club President's-elect, secretary/treasurers and major District
chairs.
Ideally, we will all incorporate these goals into our sphere of influence.
1. Encourage a spirit of enthusiasm, and
mutual cooperation .
2. Increase District membership by 10% over the starting date of
10/01/2009.
3. Strengthen existing CALSO Optimist Clubs.
4. Recognize and honor an Eagle scout at each quarterly meeting.
5. Identify areas requiring additional training and offer Leadership
Development
opportunities.
6. Promote the Personal Growth and Involvement (PGI) Program.
LET'S HAVE FUN WORKING FOR OUR CHILDREN AND
YOUTH.
