 SECOND QUARTERLY & BOARD MEETING

Sunrise of Imperial Valley Optimist Club

Dear California South District 41 Optimist Members and Friends of Optimism,
Our youth need us more than ever to provide them with hope, positive vision and opportunities to be the best that they can be.  We need to support each other in that effort!  I ask you all to come  to the 2nd Quarterly Conference in El Centro, the weekend of Feb. 5-6, to renew your energy,  encourage your fellow optimists, and get new ideas for your Club.  A $50.00 gift card will be awarded to the Club with the most first timers at a quarterly meeting.  (Club will choose the type of Gift card)

Fri. Feb. 5Golf game with student golfers - Tee off time:scattered shot gun at 1 p.m., Desert Trails
     Executive Golf Course off 4th St., El Centro.  GREAT  WALKING COURSE!!! $25.00 green fee, carts available.  Adult players will pick up students' discounted fees to be determined.

Fri. after Golf Game: Western style BBQ dinner cooked by Lakeside Club members as a fundraiser for
     the District and co-hosted by the Sunrise Club of Imperial Valley, at President Maribel Gardia's home, 642 Costa Azul St., Imperial.  BYOB  Cost for dinner:  $10.00.  Soft drinks and water will be available for purchase from Sunrise of I.V. Club members.  Wear your jeans and warm jackets.

Sat. Feb. 6:  All events held at CalWorks Bldg, 2895  4th St., El Centro
    
8 a.m.  Sunrise I.V. Club Meeting - everyone invited.  $5.00
    
    
9:30 a.m.     Board of Directors meeting: open to  everyone, but only Officers of the District (Governor, Gov.- Elect, Lt. Governors, Secretary, Treasurer), the two Immediate Past Governors (Alma Vinson, Bill Meyers) and All Presidents (or their designee) vote on issues with voting card.

    
10:30 a.m.     General Session:  Roll call of Optimist Clubs and new attendees.  All Clubs have 45 seconds to
                    brag about accomplishments
          •  Motivational Presentations
          •  New Guidelines for CPA (Community Projects Award) at least 1 required this year
          •  Oratorical, Essay Contest Updates
          •  Minimum requirements for Honor Club  (All Clubs deserve this!!)
          •  Honor an El Centro Eagle Scout
LUNCH/Entertainment  $15.00 to benefit El Centro Youth
          •  O.I. Foundation Report/Awards
          •  Bulletin/Scrapbook Awards from Convention
          •   Club Awards for achievements 2008-09
MAKE RESERVATIONS FOR NUMBER FROM YOUR  CLUB ATTENDING WITH TREASURER, BEN LIZAK.

Send Check for $25.00... for Friday dinner and sat. Lunch, (or !5.00 for Lunch) made to CALSO District and mail to:
